Coursera, Inc. announced a strategic equity investment of $100 million in LearnVector Inc. The newly launched AI-native learning company was founded and is led by Andrew Ng, one of the most recognized figures in artificial intelligence and a co-founder of Coursera. Furthermore, the investment supports Coursera’s next phase of growth by integrating advanced AI capabilities across its platform. As a result, the company aims to reshape digital education while reaching a broader global audience.
LearnVector seeks to transform learning by moving beyond traditional teaching models. Instead of offering generic responses, the company plans to build AI agents that provide personalized, one-on-one learning experiences. These AI systems will adapt to individual learning styles, guide learners through practice, and continue supporting them until they demonstrate mastery. Consequently, learners can develop skills more effectively while preparing for career advancement or subject expertise.
“AI will be the greatest force in accelerating human development, if we do it right. Rather than replace people or make learning obsolete, AI grows the demand for trusted learning,” said Andrew Ng, CEO of LearnVector and co-founder of Coursera. “With LearnVector, we’re putting AI to work for human development, transforming learning from the traditional one-to-many model to one-to-one and opening a limitless set of new opportunities for learners everywhere.”
Coursera Strengthens Its AI Learning Strategy
Coursera stated that the investment aligns with its ongoing efforts to make learning more personalized, measurable, and effective through artificial intelligence. Additionally, the company continues improving learner engagement, retention, and overall educational outcomes across its platform. According to Coursera, AI creates new learning opportunities instead of reducing the need for education.
The company also expects the investment to complement the broader scale achieved through its recent combination with Udemy. Therefore, Coursera believes it can serve an even larger audience while encouraging learners to make education a regular habit. At the same time, the company aims to address growing global demand for accessible and high-quality learning experiences.
Coursera and LearnVector are exploring future commercial collaborations. Under these discussions, LearnVector intends to combine Andrew Ng’s agentic AI technology with Coursera’s trusted educational content. The collaboration will also leverage Coursera’s enterprise network, higher education ecosystem, and learning insights. These insights are drawn from more than 300 million learners and 12,000 enterprise customers. The companies expect to introduce the first LearnVector product experiences in early 2027. Ultimately, both organizations plan to deliver highly personalized learning experiences that traditional chatbots cannot replicate.
“Andrew is one of the world’s foremost experts in AI, and his founding vision for LearnVector is a throughline of Coursera’s own mission, to provide universal access to world-class learning,” said Greg Hart, CEO of Coursera. “This strategic investment reflects our conviction that AI expands the market for learning rather than diminishing it. Combined with the transformative AI work already underway across our platform, Andrew’s expertise and LearnVector’s innovations can act as a force multiplier for our next chapter of growth. Ultimately, AI creates a bigger pie for learning, and our ambition is for Coursera to be the trustworthy, personalized learning path that helps people achieve their goals.”
Coursera’s $100 million strategic investment currently represents a one-third ownership interest in LearnVector on a fully diluted basis.
