HCLTech Expands Strategic Partnership with Guardian to Accelerate AI-Driven Modernization

HCLTech and Guardian sign a new expanded partnership agreement

HCLTech has renewed its seven-year contract with The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America® (Guardian) to continue its long-standing partnership. Agreement strengthens Guardian’s technology and operations with AI-Driven Modernization. This will help both organizations drive long-term business growth through enterprise AI, digital transformation and operational excellence.

The expanded partnership builds on a previous partnership between the companies. And it also is focused on accelerating value creation through improved operational efficiency and customer experiences. Both companies also plan to reduce process friction while building AI-powered solutions and intellectual property for the insurance industry.

As per the agreement, HCLTech will strengthen Guardian’s technology landscape with continued transformation on data, engineering and enterprise applications. The company will also support talent reskilling initiatives that prepare teams for an AI-enabled environment. This will enhance capabilities in group benefits, retirement, wealth management and individual protection services.

The modernization strategy is designed to lower operational costs and increase business agility. Guardian believes this will bring faster product delivery and a better experience for customers, advisors and distribution partners. The partnership also allows for scalable innovation that is consistent with evolving business priorities.

HCLTech will extend its AI Force transformation platform to build autonomous enterprise capabilities. The platform will also enable Guardian to accelerate AI adoption across core business functions. These smart capabilities will be integrated into Guardian’s product operating model and will augment the delivery infrastructure that scales with business needs.

Strengthening the partnership to enable enterprise AI and operational excellence

HCLTech is acquiring Guardian India, the company’s global competence center, as part of the expanded agreement. The organization provides technology, operations and shared services to support Guardian’s transformation initiatives. The acquisition will further strengthen HCLTech’s delivery capabilities with a highly skilled workforce.

HCLTech will take on Guardian India’s nearly 2,000 employees as part of a dedicated strategic business unit. This team will work only to support Guardian’s technology modernization, operational transformation and product innovation initiatives. In addition, Karunakaran Azhisur, the country manager of Guardian India, will join HCLTech to lead the new strategic business unit.

“This partnership is a significant milestone in the development of our operating model and the large-scale deployment of AI across our business,” said Steve Rullo, Chief Digital and Technology Officer at Guardian. “Working with HCLTech, we are strengthening our operational processes to improve the consistency and scalability of our business, while continuing to invest in the capabilities that differentiate Guardian, enhance operational excellence, and create value for our customers, policyholders, and distribution partners.”

“This expanded partnership is yet another testament to our renewed leadership in the insurance industry and reflects the strength of our relationship with Guardian, which will enable us to further implement its AI-driven strategy, as well as our shared commitment to developing AI and modernizing operations,” said Srinivasan Seshadri, Chief Growth Officer and Global Head of Financial Services at HCLTech. “We are thrilled to welcome the talented Guardian team. Together, we have a unique opportunity to collaborate on co-creating products and intellectual property that will deepen HCLTech’s industry expertise, strengthen our AI-enabled platforms, and help our clients achieve sustainable business growth.”

The expanded agreement reinforces the commitment of both organizations to advance AI-driven innovation across the insurance sector. Meanwhile, the collaboration will help Guardian build resilient operations while supporting future business growth through enterprise-scale AI technologies.
