Kioxia Launches the Next Generation KIOXIA BG7 Series SSDs for PC OEMs

Next Generation KIOXIA BG7 Series SSDs

Kioxia Corporation recently announced the launch of its KIOXIA BG7 series solid-state drives (SSDs). These drives use the latest BiCS FLASH generation 8 3D flash memory. This tech features CMOS directly bonded to Array technology. This release marks the first client solution to use this specific memory. The new series targets commercial and consumer notebooks and desktops. It provides a strong balance of performance and power efficiency.

The KIOXIA BG7 series delivers up to 1,000,000 IOPS for random read and write tasks. It reaches sequential read speeds of up to 7,000 MB/s. These figures show a 10% gain in sequential read speed. They also show a 16% gain in random performance. Power efficiency for sequential writes improved by about 67%. This was achieved through CBA technology and an optimized controller. Users will notice faster boot times and smoother application loading.

Advanced Features for Modern Computing

The series adds NVMe 2.0d capabilities for finer control by OEMs. It includes a new M.2 Type 2242 form factor. This joins the existing 2230 and 2280 sizes. The DRAM-less drives use Host Memory Buffer technology to save costs. These SSDs support TCG Opal version 2.01 for better security. They come in sizes from 256 GB up to 2,048 GB. This variety allows manufacturers to build diverse device types.

The company will showcase the new drives at CES 2026. The exhibit will be at the Venetian Meeting Center. Select PC OEM customers are currently evaluating samples of the hardware. Kioxia continues to lead in the flash memory market. Its latest technology helps shape the future of high-density storage. These drives represent a major step forward for the industry. They offer reliability and speed for everyday professional users.
