Lattice Unveils Lattice Prompt, a New AI-Powered FPGA Design Tool

AI-powered FPGA design tool

Lattice Semiconductor has introduced an AI-powered FPGA design tool called Lattice Prompt. The company describes itself as a leader in low power programmable and platform firmware solutions. Consequently, this new AI-powered FPGA design tool targets small and mid-range FPGAs. Furthermore, it aims to reshape how developers approach the entire design process.

Lattice Prompt Brings AI Into the Full Design Flow

Lattice Prompt works alongside AI agentic tools that developers already use daily. As a result, it merges these tools with Lattice’s own design software, knowledge base, and documentation. In turn, developers can type natural language inputs and receive validated, accurate responses. This approach speeds up FPGA development considerably. At the same time, it helps optimize both design performance and overall capability.

Esam Elashmawi, Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer at Lattice Semiconductor, commented on the launch. “Accelerating time-to-market demands and rising design complexity are putting mounting pressure on FPGA developers to do more with every design cycle,” said Esam Elashmawi, Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer, Lattice Semiconductor. “Lattice Prompt gives developers AI-assisted access to the full design flow, grounded in Lattice’s validated knowledge, so they can focus on what matters most: building differentiated systems.”

Notably, Lattice Prompt connects to a developer’s chosen AI-powered FPGA design tool large language model. Additionally, it links to an agentic Integrated Development Environment through the open Model Context Protocol. Meanwhile, the tool automatically orchestrates Lattice Radiant® software in the background, reducing manual steps.

Productivity Gains and Flexible Integration

Since Lattice Prompt is built on official documentation, datasheets, and Lattice’s knowledge base, its AI responses stay grounded and reliable. Therefore, developers benefit from more intelligent design decisions throughout their workflow.

Lattice Prompt delivers productivity gains of 10X or more on common design tasks. Moreover, it optimizes performance and capacity within the FPGA itself. The tool also covers the full design flow through natural language commands. These include simulation, synthesis, map, place and route, timing analysis, and bitstream generation. In addition, Lattice Prompt automatically generates design reports and documentation. This feature saves developers valuable time, allowing them to focus on specialized domain expertise instead.

Importantly, AI-powered FPGA design tool Lattice Prompt offers flexibility across models and development environments. It works with a developer’s preferred large language model and agentic IDE. Supported platforms include Claude Code, Cursor, Visual Studio Code, and other MCP-compatible tools.

Lattice Prompt is now available as a free download. Additionally, it remains fully compatible with the latest release of Lattice Radiant design software.
