XDC Network has expanded its footprint in Japan with the addition of NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL as an institutional masternode validator. The XDC Network partnership is the first validator partnership of the blockchain platform with a company from a Japanese telecommunications group. Moreover, the partnership arrives as regulated organizations throughout the region continue to adopt blockchain infrastructure for financial settlements and enterprise applications.
XDC Network announced that institutional masternode validator has been added to the blockchain’s consensus layer by NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL, a member of the NTT DOCOMO Group. This means the partnership expands the enterprise ecosystem of XDC Network and further solidifies its commitment to the Japanese market.
NTT DOCOMO Group is composed of NTT DOCOMO, INC., NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS, Inc., NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL, Inc. and other related companies. The group provides mobile communications, financial services, payment solutions, ICT services, enterprise digital transformation (DX) and global technology solutions.
Furthermore, the role of NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL as a masternode validator brings the institutional strength of one of Japan’s leading enterprise groups to the validator ecosystem of XDC Network. So, the blockchain network is continuing to build out its institutional-grade infrastructure, while also increasing decentralization and operational resilience.
“A validator is more than a participant, it is a guardian of the network. We are proud to welcome NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL as an XDC masternode operator, bringing a world-class institutional profile to strengthen the security, decentralization, and resilience of XDC Network. As the industry enters the Agentic AI era, trusted blockchain infrastructure will become the foundation for autonomous agents, tokenized assets, digital trade, and machine-to-machine payments. Together, we are building the institutional-grade infrastructure that will power the next generation of AI-driven decentralized finance and global commerce,” said Ritesh Kakkad, Co-Founder, XDC Network.
Partnership Expands Enterprise Blockchain Adoption in Japan
Japan remains one of XDC Network’s strategic markets. Previously, the company established a strong regional presence through its joint venture with SBI Holdings under SBI XDC Network APAC. In addition, SBI VC Trade has served as a long-standing institutional validator for the blockchain network.
Accordingly, NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL’s appointment demonstrates XDC Network’s continued investment in Japan. Together, SBI and NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL strengthen the company’s position across both the financial services and telecommunications sectors.
“NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL builds on the NTT DOCOMO Group’s long-standing experience in supporting the infrastructure that institutions depend on,” said Noriyuki Kaya, Head of Service Operations Office, Digital Platform Service Business Division, NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL. “Joining XDC Network as a validator reflects that same commitment, as we look to support blockchain networks and contribute to the next generation of enterprise-grade digital finance.”
“The onboarding of NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL as part of our growing list of XDC validators is a strong signal for institutional adoption of XDC in Asia Pacific,” said Shanlong James Chen, Chief Partnerships Officer, XDC Network. “This validator partnership with a company from a leading telecommunications group broadens enterprise participation in XDC’s validator set and reinforces the network’s relevance for real-world financial applications where uptime, security, and scale are critical.”
XDC Network operates as a Layer-1 blockchain supporting global trade finance, cross-border payments, and real-world asset tokenization through its XDPoS consensus mechanism. Every institutional masternode stakes at least 10 million XDC while validating transactions, maintaining the distributed ledger, and participating in network governance.
With the addition of NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL, XDC Network now supports more than 20 institutional masternode operators. These participants include HashKey, SBI VC Trade, Animoca Brands, Deutsche Telekom, Cumberland, and CertiK. As a result, the network continues attracting regulated organizations from Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas, creating one of the industry’s most geographically diverse enterprise blockchain validator ecosystems.
