TCS and Workato Join Hands to Accelerate Enterprise Integration Modernization with AI

enterprise integration modernization

Workato®, the leading Control and Execution Platform for Enterprise AI, unveiled a joint offering with Tata Consultancy Services. The partnership targets enterprise integration modernization with AI. It pairs TCS GenAI-Led Modernization Workbench, an agentic modernization workbench, with Workato AIRO. Together, these tools move legacy integrations to Workato. This includes integrations built on legacy integration, API, and iPaaS platforms.

Legacy integration environments currently hold back enterprise AI programs. Moreover, migrating them has been slow and manual.

How the Agentic Modernization Workflow Works

TCS GenAI-Led Modernization Workbench first scans the legacy integration estate. It then produces a business requirements document (BRD). Next, Workato AIRO reads the BRD. AIRO is the multi-agent system that serves as the primary interface of the Workato platform.

AIRO builds the recipes and connections. After that, it creates test scripts, validates the results, and self-heals them. People remain in the loop throughout the process.

Both companies share a clear view for enterprise integration modernization. AI programs stall when the integration layer underneath them is outdated. A model alone cannot close that gap. Conversion is the last step of the process. First, customers decide what to modernize, replace, or retire. Only then do they convert.

In this partnership, TCS contributes engineering depth and context engineering. Meanwhile, Workato AIRO contributes orchestration and the path from prompt to production. As a result, the two compress discovery, build, test, and documentation. Every recipe also stays traceable to its source. Therefore, enterprises working to get AI into production no longer start from scratch. The first governed use case now has a head start.

Compared with manual approaches, TCS reports the following results from this integration modernization effort:

  • 70% less discovery and assessment effort: weeks of analysis reduced to days.
  • 10 times faster migration delivery.
  • 80% less overall engineering effort across build, test, and documentation.
  • 100% source-to-recipe traceability.

“AI programs depend on the integrations underneath them, and in many enterprises those integrations sit on legacy environments that are slow to move by hand,” said David Ng, Global VP, Partner, GTM & Alliances at Workato. “TCS GenAI-Led Modernization Workbench documents what the legacy estate does, and AIRO builds and tests the Workato equivalent from that record, with people reviewing the work. Customers decide what to modernize, replace, or retire first, and every recipe traces back to its source. That is what lets the first governed use case carry into the next one.”

Shailesh Ghaisas, Chief Architect-Enterprise Integration, TCS, also shared his perspective on the offering.

“Workato AIRO brings essential speed and precision to the modernization process, letting our consultants protect business intent while delivering high-quality integrations significantly faster,” said Shailesh Ghaisas, Chief Architect-Enterprise Integration, TCS.
