Silicon Motion Unveils MonTitan™ SSD Reference Design Kit

Silicon Motion Technology Corporation announced the official launch of its new storage platform for Agentic AI infrastructure, Silicon Motion MonTitan SSD Reference Design Kit, at FMS 2026. The Silicon Motion MonTitan SSD Reference Design Kit integrates the company’s next generation PerformaShape™ technology to enable enterprise SSDs to function as a persistent memory layer. Silicon Motion’s MonTitan SSD Reference Design Kit also enables KV cache offload, autonomous AI agents, predictable quality of service (QoS), sustained performance, and enhanced endurance for demanding enterprise AI workloads.

The storage needs are increasingly more complex as enterprise AI continues to evolve. Traditional artificial intelligence systems handle defined workloads. Agentic artificial intelligence systems, in contrast, are constantly reasoning, deciding, remembering context, and interacting with external applications. This results in different data types from these systems when they have highly dynamic storage access patterns. Consequently, modern enterprise SSDs must deliver consistent latency, high throughput, predictable QoS, and long-term endurance to support continuous inference and large KV caches.

The new PerformaShape™ technology incorporates an improved hardware architecture that allows Multi-Dimensional Shaping for precise workload management. Furthermore, the architecture features advanced performance monitoring capabilities with NVMe TP4176 as an API. Therefore, enterprise SSDs can offer predictable QoS even in the presence of rapidly changing workloads from multiple tenants and autonomous AI agents.

Furthermore, the platform also helps to decrease the performance fluctuations that affect modern AI infrastructure. This means that enterprises can sustain stable storage performance while enabling ongoing AI processing and write-intensive operations.
