Semtech Expands TIA Portfolio for Next-Gen AI Data Centers

Semtech Corporation, a global leader in semiconductors, IoT systems, and cloud connectivity solutions, has introduced two new FiberEdge® transimpedance amplifiers (TIAs). The launch addresses critical power efficiency challenges as AI data centers accelerate toward 1.6T infrastructure.

The new GN1834D and GN1818 TIAs expand Semtech’s signal integrity portfolio. They help operators optimize performance for 800G deployments while preparing for the upcoming 1.6T optical interconnect era.

AI workloads continue driving exponential bandwidth growth. However, increasing power consumption remains a key constraint for hyperscale data centers. Semtech’s TIAs directly target this challenge with improved efficiency and design flexibility.

Scott Wilkinson, lead analyst for Cignal AI, noted that the high-speed datacom transceiver market is set to grow from $9 billion in 2024 to over $17 billion by 2026, fueled by rapid AI infrastructure scaling.

Amit Thakar, vice president of signal integrity product marketing at Semtech, emphasized that operators need proven and scalable technology. He said, “Our 200G TIA portfolio delivers the performance and power efficiency hyperscale operators demand for 800G and 1.6T deployments.”

GN1834D: Enabling 1.6T AI Infrastructure

The GN1834D expands Semtech’s 200G TIA portfolio with advanced 200G per channel performance. It powers 8x200G optical modules, delivering 1.6T throughput for hyperscale connectivity. Its hybrid assembly with 2.5D mounting technology enhances signal integrity and minimizes parasitic effects.

GN1818: Power Optimization for 800G Expansion

The GN1818 ensures up to 20% power reduction while supporting 100G lanes in existing 800G deployments. It allows operators to extend current investments while preparing for seamless 1.6T migration. Its compact 250μm pitch ensures maximum density for space-constrained optical modules.

Comprehensive Portfolio Advantage

Semtech’s 200G per channel TIA lineup now includes GN1834D, GN1832, GN1834, and GN1836. This broad portfolio enables module manufacturers to standardize across applications, ensuring supply chain efficiency and scalability.

Both the GN1834D and GN1818 are now available for sampling. Semtech will showcase its optical innovations at CIOE 2025 in Shenzhen, China, Booth #11C52.
