Red Hat today introduced Red Hat Developer Lightspeed, a new AI-powered assistant suite that ups developer productivity. The tool integrates into Red Hat’s developer environment to support application modernization and new cloud-native development.
With Developer Lightspeed, domain-specific, context-aware AI assistants help reduce context switching and streamline developer workflows. These assistants help with coding and non-coding tasks by connecting to the developer hub and migration toolkit.
For non-coding tasks, Lightspeed offers a chat-style interface that guides developers from blank page to action plan. It helps draft documentation, design application approaches, and generate test plans. Meanwhile, for application migration, Lightspeed automates source-code refactoring inside the IDE and learns from past migrations to deliver more accurate results.
Furthermore, Red Hat’s migration toolkit for applications (MTA 8) includes automation of replatforming to Red Hat OpenShift and deployment-artifact generation, thus lowering barriers to cloud-native replatforming. The combination of Lightspeed and MTA 8 gives organizations a more complete modernization workflow.
Developer Lightspeed is now in developer preview via Red Hat Developer Hub and generally available in the Advanced Developer Suite for migration toolkit users. With this launch, Red Hat aims to empower developers and organizations to build and modernize applications faster while maintaining operational standards.
