HPE (Hewlett Packard Enterprise) announced major innovations at HPE Discover Barcelona 2025. Consequently, the company is accelerating the large-scale deployment of artificial intelligence (AI). This is for training and inference for cloud service providers. They are offering the first AMD “Helios” AI rack-scale architecture. This new design includes integrated Ethernet networking for scale-up. The solution uses purpose-built HPE Juniper Networking hardware. Furthermore, it incorporates software along with Broadcom’s Tomahawk 6 networking chip. The platform is based on the Ultra Accelerator Link over Ethernet (UALoE) standard. This open standard is critical for modern networking.
The new single-turnkey rack handles massive workloads. It can train trillion-parameter AI models. It also delivers high-volume inferencing throughput. HPE is among the first companies to offer this solution. It is built on Open Compute Project (OCP) specifications. These specs optimize for power delivery and advanced liquid cooling. Therefore, the design is also practical for ongoing maintenance. HPE is extending its “networks for AI” solutions portfolio.
Delivering Performance and Open Standards
The AMD “Helios” rack connects seventy-two AMD Instinct™ MI455X GPUs. Specifically, the solution delivers 260 terabytes per second of bandwidth. It achieves up to 2.9 AI exaflops of FP4 performance. This reduces the workload for large AI models. The system also offers a massive 31 terabytes of memory. In addition, this provides uncompromised capacity for demanding workloads. The new HPE Juniper Networking switch is an industry-first. It is the first scale-up switch designed to optimize AI workloads. It uses standard Ethernet technology. This was developed in collaboration with Broadcom. The switch minimizes vendor lock-in. Ultimately, this enables faster feature updates. HPE will offer the AMD “Helios” AI rack-scale architecture worldwide in 2026. This partnership helps customers build powerful AI data centers.
