Ecolab to Acquire CoolIT Systems, a Global Leader in Advanced Liquid Cooling Technology for Next-Gen AI Data Centers

Ecolab to Acquire CoolIT Systems

Ecolab Inc. recently announced a definitive agreement to acquire CoolIT Systems. This acquisition focuses on advanced liquid cooling solutions for Next-Gen AI Data Centers. The deal is valued at approximately $4.75 billion in cash from KKR. It combines Ecolab’s water management expertise with CoolIT’s thermal technology.

The demand for cooling is rising rapidly due to artificial intelligence. Traditional air cooling often fails to support Next-Gen AI Data Centers. Liquid cooling provides a more efficient way to manage high heat. Consequently, this technology helps operators reduce their total energy consumption.

CoolIT Systems is a global leader in Direct Liquid Cooling technology. Their products sit inside the servers to remove heat at the source. This method allows for much higher rack densities. Furthermore, it supports the most powerful chips used in modern computing.

Improving Sustainability in the Tech Industry

The integration will help customers achieve their climate goals. Many Next-Gen AI Data Centers aim for net-zero water and carbon usage. Ecolab provides the specialized chemicals and services needed for these systems. Together, the companies offer a complete suite of cooling resources.

The transaction is expected to close by the third quarter of 2026. Regulatory approvals and standard closing conditions are still required. Afterward, CoolIT will operate as part of the Ecolab platform. This move positions Ecolab as a key player in the tech infrastructure market.

Christophe Beck, Chairman and CEO of Ecolab, spoke about the acquisition.

“AI is transforming the demands on data centers. By bringing together CoolIT’s technologies with Ecolab’s expertise, we can provide our customers a complete cooling solution while reducing water and energy use.”

The combined company will focus on reducing operational costs for clients. They plan to innovate new ways to recycle heat from servers. This strategy ensures long-term growth in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
