Dynatrace Finalizes Arize Acquisition to Expand AI Observability Across the Full Development Lifecycle

AI observability

Dynatrace, the leading AI-powered observability platform, today announced that it has completed its acquisition of Arize. Arize is an AI observability and evaluation platform that delivers continual learning for agents. The deal extends AI observability across the full development lifecycle.

AI models and agents now demand a new kind of observability. Therefore, Dynatrace has brought evaluation and observability together in one approach. As a result, teams can test AI applications before launch. Moreover, they can keep those applications dependable once they go live.

Arize contributes its leading AI evaluation capabilities to the combined offering. Dynatrace adds its end-to-end observability. Together, the two are expected to surface issues earlier. In addition, they should help teams resolve those issues faster.

Developers and AI builders also gain full visibility into model and agent behavior. This visibility covers every stage, from development through production. Furthermore, it complements Dynatrace’s existing capabilities. Those capabilities already manage performance, cost, and reliability across customer environments.

Industry Leaders Back the Move Toward Unified AI Observability

Analysts see clear value in this combination. Stephen Elliot, IDC Group VP for Software Development and IT Operations, explained why observability matters more today.

“As agents multiply across enterprises, the importance of observability has risen. Bringing evaluation and observability together closes the loop between building AI applications and running them reliably in production, giving teams the visibility they need to catch issues earlier and resolve them faster,” said Stephen Elliot, IDC Group VP for Software Development and IT Operations.

Customers have also welcomed the news. Steve Tannock, VP of Platform Engineering Excellence at TELUS, shared his perspective.

“The rise of AI has changed what we need from an observability platform,” said Steve Tannock, VP of Platform Engineering Excellence, TELUS. “That’s why we’re excited about Dynatrace’s acquisition of Arize. Together, the two technologies offer a modern approach with real potential to cover the full development lifecycle, from initial build through production.”

Meanwhile, existing Arize users will see continuity. Arize will continue supporting Phoenix, its open-source platform. It will also keep supporting AX, its enterprise platform. Over time, however, Dynatrace will integrate Arize capabilities into its own platform. Consequently, customers will receive a unified AI observability experience.
