Boldyn Networks Boosts Silverstone Fan Experience with New 5G Connectivity

Boldyn Networks takes mobile connectivity

Boldyn Networks has rolled out a high-speed 5G connectivity upgrade at the world-famous Silverstone circuit. This is a permanent upgrade that has replaced the old temporary connectivity solutions that were used during race events. The connectivity solution supports all major mobile operators in the UK. This means that fans can now share their moments from the race without experiencing frustrating disconnections.

Stuart Pringle, Chief Executive Officer of Silverstone, said: “With more than 1.5 million visitors each year, reliable mobile connectivity is essential to the customer experience at Silverstone. This new network delivers the performance and resilience we need to support fans, customers and partners and allows us to share information and unforgettable iconic moments that will enhance their visit. We’re delighted to be working with Boldyn to bring world-class connectivity to everyone who comes through our gates.”

Advanced Network Infrastructure for Large-Scale Events

The initiative boasts a hybrid active Distributed Antenna System (DAS) with cutting-edge technology at 25 circuit locations. The system has 57 high-capacity sectors and 87 DAS zones to support large crowds. In particular, the network is designed to support more than 1.5 million annual visitors & 500,000 Grand Prix fans. Apart from supporting fans during racing events, the network offers excellent coverage for events and conferences throughout the year. The digital infrastructure enhances efficiency by minimizing engineering work during seasonal periods. Moreover, the infrastructure supports the needs of broadcasters and professional racing teams.

Brendan O’Reilly, Chief Executive Officer UK & Ireland, Boldyn Networks, said: “As the legendary home of the British Grand Prix, and the venue for the first Formula 1 World Championship over 75 years ago, Silverstone is a place where excitement and expectations are at their highest every race weekend. Boldyn is very proud to be supporting this iconic venue with connectivity infrastructure built to match its world-famous reputation. The deployment will provide Silverstone with a future-ready mobile network designed to continue pleasing fans, teams and broadcasters for years to come.”
