Arista Networks, a leader in cloud and artificial intelligence networking, announced a powerful new router family today. The enhancements focus on AI centers and data centers. The company said the R4 Series delivers ultra-high capacity and low AI job completion times while reducing total cost of ownership.
New Router Family with 800G Performance
Firstly, Arista’s new R4 Series platforms support dense 800 Gbps systems and introduce 3.2 Tbps “HyperPorts” for multiplanar, distributed AI workloads. The launch sets a fresh benchmark for high-capacity data center routing.
The 800G routers include fixed and modular options to support scalable leaf-and-spine architectures. They deliver predictable low latency and strong protection against packet loss during congestion.
AI Centres Feature Set
Next, the announcement highlights that large-scale AI training and inference workloads require ultra-high port densities and transport speeds. Arista’s R4 family meets these needs with high-density 800 Gbps support and AI-optimized routing options.
One customer, Magnite, said Arista’s modular 7800R4 platform delivered an ideal foundation for their next-generation data center built for AI.
Security, Leaf/Spine Options & Availability
In addition, Arista emphasizes security: every port supports wire-speed encryption through TunnelSec, MACsec, IPsec, and VXLANsec.
The 7800R4 system supports up to 576 ports of 800 GbE in a single chassis. Meanwhile, the 7280R4 offers compact fixed-form AI/data centre spine or backbone routing options.
Moreover, Arista launched the 7020R4 leaf switches for direct server connectivity in high-speed AI/DC leaves. These deliver 10 GbE or 25 GbE options and uplinks with wirespeed encryption per port.
Finally, availability is immediate for certain systems: 7800R4 modular systems and two new linecards are shipping now. Additional platforms (7800R4 HyperPort, new 7020R4 chassis) arrive in Q1 2026.
