Cloudways Unveils Velocity, a Managed Node.js Hosting Solution for Developers and Agencies

managed Node.js hosting

Cloudways, a DigitalOcean Holdings company, has officially launched Velocity. This new managed Node.js hosting platform targets developers and agencies building production-ready applications. Consequently, users no longer face unpredictable usage-based bills. Moreover, the platform removes much of the operational burden tied to managing infrastructure.

The Broomfield, Colorado-based company designed Velocity to combine infrastructure simplicity with VPS-like control. As a result, teams can move applications into production faster. Furthermore, this managed Node.js hosting service extends beyond Cloudways’ traditional WordPress offerings. Therefore, both new and existing customers gain a quicker path from code to live deployment.

Developers currently choose between serverless platforms and raw VPS infrastructure. However, serverless options often become restrictive and costly at scale. Meanwhile, VPS setups demand significant operational work. Velocity, therefore, bridges this gap. Specifically, Node.js applications can now deploy through Git, while Cloudways handles server maintenance, patching, SSL, and backups.

Addressing Developer and Agency Needs

AI-assisted development tools are speeding up prototyping. Consequently, teams need a clear route to maintaining applications in Managed Node.js Hosting production. Additionally, developers must balance platform convenience with cost visibility. Agencies, meanwhile, face pressure to keep hosting costs predictable. This predictability helps them price client work confidently and protect margins.

Velocity tackles these challenges through managed, persistent infrastructure. Additionally, it offers flat, predictable monthly pricing. Thus, teams gain better visibility into hosting expenses while reducing daily operational tasks.

The platform supports Server-Side Rendered and Client-Side Managed Node.js Hosting Rendered applications. It also accommodates Express-based API backends and Next.JS. Git-based deployment, alongside framework-specific onboarding, helps developers skip manual PM2 and NGINX configuration. Applications run on persistent server resources, supporting long-running APIs and backend services. At no extra cost, Velocity also includes Cloudflare Enterprise, WAF, DDoS protection, and malware scanning.

Regal IT Adopts Velocity for Shopify Application

UK-based ecommerce agency Regal IT recently used Velocity to launch its RMA Pro Shopify application. Previously, alternative hosting solutions required separate configuration of multiple components. Velocity, however, unified Git-based deployment with managed backups, SSL, and infrastructure. Consequently, Regal IT focused more on development and testing rather than environment maintenance.

Suhaib Zaheer, SVP & General Manager at Cloudways by DigitalOcean, commented: “Developers and agencies tell us they want predictable hosting costs, less infrastructure work, while keeping control of their applications, services and deployments. Velocity brings those needs together in a managed Node.js offering that helps them move from development to production.

“For agencies, understanding hosting costs helps them plan client projects and protect margins. For developers, having the infrastructure managed means more time to build, improve and grow their applications. Velocity extends Cloudways’ longstanding promise: removing infrastructure friction so developers and businesses can focus on building, launching and growing what comes next.”
