HPE and Oracle Deepen Networking Collaboration to Accelerate Gigawatt-Scale AI Infrastructure

HPE announced today an expanded collaboration with Oracle. Consequently, the partnership will scale Oracle’s global AI infrastructure further. As a result, HPE Juniper Networking will now be deployed across Oracle’s AI data centers. This move builds on more than a decade of engineering work. Additionally, the collaboration includes networking support services and financing capabilities.

Currently, HPE Juniper Networking routing and switching platforms support key OCI operations. Specifically, these platforms power Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s data center and edge networks. Furthermore, this foundation provides the scale and performance Oracle needs. Meanwhile, this AI infrastructure backbone becomes more critical as OCI expands its AI superclusters. Indeed, large GPU clusters demand significant bandwidth, latency management, and fault recovery. Simultaneously, Oracle’s regional networks must scale globally to connect clusters with services and customers.

Multi-Year Deployment Strengthens AI Data Center Networking

Under this expanded agreement, HPE will potentially deploy Juniper Networking PTX and MX routing platforms. Likewise, QFX and EX switching platforms will roll out across Oracle’s global data centers. Additionally, this includes multi-year networking support services. Currently, MX and PTX routers already support portions of Oracle’s edge network. Meanwhile, QFX switches power multiple layers within the regional data center fabric. Notably, the latest QFX switches deliver high-density connectivity for AI infrastructure. They also provide dynamic load balancing and advanced congestion management. Therefore, these switches support large RoCEv2 AI backend networks effectively.

Intelligent Telemetry Boosts AI Network Visibility

Beyond hardware deployment, Oracle and HPE are collaborating on intelligent telemetry solutions. This technology delivers deeper visibility into device and fabric behavior. Consequently, earlier detection helps identify queue buildup and packet loss quickly. Moreover, it flags traffic imbalances and component degradation before they escalate. Ultimately, this approach helps OCI resolve issues faster. It also minimizes impact on GPU utilization and overall network availability.

As part of this agreement, HPE has issued Oracle warrants. These warrants allow Oracle to purchase shares of HPE common stock.
