Postman announced the launch of its new AI Engineer tool. This cloud-native AI agent manages the full surface area of API activities. The platform automates development, testing, documentation, exploration, and continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines. Consequently, this innovation shifts manual tasks into autonomous execution.
Many corporate APIs currently lack testing, documentation, and proper engineering governance. A widespread shortage of developer capacity drives this issue. Unmanaged dependencies create growing context debt, which ultimately causes systems to become brittle. The specialized AI Engineer acts as an always-on assistant to solve these exact capacity limits.

An underlying graph database called the Postman context graph powers the AI Engineer. This setup captures the institutional memory of how an API was built, altered, and governed. Users can trigger the AI Engineer directly from pull requests, Slack, the Postman CLI, or the standard Postman application.
The software operates inside a secure, sandboxed environment to generate verified artifacts. These deliverables include collections, test results, specifications, run logs, and temporary cloud workspaces. Furthermore, the platform integrates with GitHub, GitLab, and existing CI/CD pipelines. To ensure strict corporate governance, all write operations remain subject to explicit human approval. The tool is currently available in beta for free plan users.
