Cisco and Tata Communications Drive Next-Gen IoT Connectivity
Tata Communications has announced a strategic partnership with Cisco to redefine global eSIM and IoT connectivity. This collaboration aims to simplify how enterprises connect, manage, and scale devices across industries worldwide.
As enterprises expand IoT operations, they often face challenges such as fragmented SIM hardware, complex provisioning, and poor interoperability across networks. These hurdles increase costs, delay rollouts, and reduce flexibility. Consequently, organizations struggle to scale their IoT initiatives efficiently.
Through this partnership, Tata Communications will integrate its MOVE™ platform, an intelligent multi-generational global eSIM orchestration solution, into Cisco’s IoT Control Center. The MOVE™ platform has delivered over 350 million eSIM operating systems and manages SIM lifecycles across 200+ countries. Meanwhile, Cisco’s IoT Control Center supports 32,000 enterprises and over 270 million IoT devices, including 100 million connected cars.
Together, the companies will enable enterprises to:
- Seamlessly activate and manage devices across networks and providers
- Accelerate deployment through a unified connectivity experience
- Gain full visibility and control across IoT layers
- Avoid vendor lock-in while reducing integration complexity
Enabling Global Enterprises with Scalable IoT
“This partnership brings a new era in how enterprises manage IoT devices,” said Marco Bijvelds, Vice President and Global Head of Tata Communications MOVE™. “By combining Tata Communications’ IoT fabric with Cisco’s management platform, we empower businesses to unlock opportunities, streamline operations, and accelerate digital transformation.”
Industries such as logistics, transportation, and manufacturing are expected to benefit significantly. For example, trucking companies can activate trailers across borders without local SIMs, while utility providers can monitor infrastructure seamlessly across public and private networks.
Masum Mir, SVP and GM, Cisco Provider Mobility, added, “Enterprises demand simplicity, automation, and scalability in IoT. With Tata Communications as our partner, we are advancing eSIM as a foundational technology for connected vehicles and beyond.”
This collaboration sets a new benchmark for the IoT industry, establishing interoperability, scalability, and lifecycle intelligence as essential standards. Cisco and Tata Communications aim to help enterprises worldwide accelerate innovation, unlock new revenue streams, and optimize connected ecosystems.
