KIOXIA has launched the industry’s first 245.76TB NVMe SSD, built to meet the demanding requirements of generative AI workloads. This cutting-edge SSD joins the LC9 Series and is available in both 2.5-inch and EDSFF E3.L form factors. The new high-capacity drive complements the existing 122.88TB model, enabling enterprises to scale efficiently.
Generative AI applications need vast storage capacity to train large language models and support real-time inference with vector databases. Therefore, KIOXIA designed its LC9 Series SSDs to offer unmatched speed, density, and energy efficiency critical for modern data-centric tasks.
The new SSDs integrate 32-die stacks of 2Tb BiCS FLASH™ QLC 3D flash memory, enhanced with CBA (CMOS directly Bonded to Array) technology. This allows for 8TB per compact 154 BGA package, another first for the industry. Thanks to KIOXIA’s advanced wafer and bonding technologies, the drives achieve unparalleled storage performance.
These SSDs are ideal for data lakes where high-volume data ingestion and real-time processing are essential. Traditional HDDs can slow performance and waste GPU power. In contrast, KIOXIA’s 245.76TB SSD offers better capacity per watt, fewer drive bays, and reduced energy consumption—improving total cost of ownership (TCO).
