Elliptic Labs Extends Smartphone Reach with AI Smart Sensors

Elliptic Labs, a global leader in AI Virtual Smart Sensors™, launched its AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform™ in three new smartphones during July 2025. The AI Virtual Smart Sensor appeared in two models from HONOR’s X70 Series and one from vivo the vivo X200FE. With all these releases, Elliptic Labs has shipped its AI sensors on 39 smartphones in 2025 alone. Additionally, the shipment of HONOR X70 Series was a landmark achievement. Elliptic Labs has officially surpassed 200 smartphone model shipments since its establishment. “Releasing three models in July puts our 2025 tally at 39 smartphone models,” CEO of Elliptic Labs Laila Danielsen commented.

AI Virtual Proximity Sensor Enhances Smartphone Efficiency

Elliptic Labs’ AI Virtual Proximity Sensor, which is part of its AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform, enhances the user experience in phone calls. It senses when a user brings the phone to the ear, accordingly changing the display off and closing touch input automatically. The capability avoids accidental input and saves battery.

In contrast with conventional sensors, Elliptic Labs’ AI Virtual Proximity Sensor is software-based. This solution eliminates the necessity for hardware sensors, reducing device cost and evading supply chain threats. This approach showcases how AI-enabled software can provide enhanced functionality at the expense of optimizing smartphone design.
