Supabase, the leading Postgres development platform, has raised $100 million in Series E funding, reaching a $5B valuation. The funding round was co-led by Accel and Peak XV, with participation from Figma Ventures and other existing investors. The latest investment highlights growing confidence in Supabase’s rapid global expansion and technological leadership.
This announcement follows the company’s Series D funding just four months ago, bringing total funding to over $500 million. The round strengthens Supabase’s position as a top choice for developers building AI-powered applications and scalable backends.
Community Co-Investment and Open Source Focus
As part of the Series E round, Supabase plans to reserve a funding allocation for its community to co-invest alongside institutional partners. This initiative reflects the company’s strong commitment to its open-source ecosystem.
“Our community is what makes Supabase special,” said Paul Copplestone, Co-founder and CEO of Supabase. “We want them to share in our growth. With this new capital, we’ll continue supporting our community of over four million developers while building open-source tools that help scale Postgres.”
Fueling AI Development and Enterprise Growth
This year has been pivotal for Supabase as it becomes the preferred backend platform for AI-driven development. Over 100,000 customers, including PwC, McDonald’s, GitHub Next, and nearly half of the latest Y Combinator batch, now rely on Supabase for scalable infrastructure.
“Supabase is scaling with clarity and conviction,” said Arun Mathew, Partner at Accel. “The platform is redefining how developers build applications with AI. With millions of developers and strong enterprise adoption, Supabase is becoming the defining database for the next generation of software.”
Adding to that, Shailendra Singh, Managing Director at Peak XV, commented, “Supabase began with managed Postgres and has evolved into a full-scale platform company. Its developer-first approach powers hundreds of thousands of AI startups globally. We’re proud to continue this partnership as Supabase enters its next phase of growth.”
Driving Innovation with ‘Multigres’ and Top Industry Talent
More than 4 million developers use Supabase alongside tools like Cursor and Claude Code for faster, AI-integrated backend development. With this funding, Supabase will accelerate work on “Multigres,” an enterprise-scale version of its platform designed for large, data-intensive applications.
To lead the Multigres initiative, Supabase has appointed Sugu Sougoumarane, co-creator of Vitess. He joins a growing team of world-class database and open-source experts, including Postgres core contributors, the NGINX co-founder, and multiple Y Combinator founders.
“We invested in Supabase at the seed stage because developers deserve both speed and scale,” said Caryn Marooney, General Partner at Coatue. “Today, building in a weekend and scaling to millions is routine with Supabase. This funding will help Supabase become the go-to backend for startups and enterprises handling data-intensive workloads.”
